How to Focus on Your Online Business

by Mark Thompson

When it comes to creating an online business lack of focus is probably the biggest thing holding us back. Focus is important on 2 levels. Firstly you have your long term focus which is what you want to ultimately achieve. Stop reading this for a moment and ask yourself what do you want? Financial freedom? To be able to leave your current job and work at home? A new house? A world cruise? That is your long term focus this what will drive you if you harness it. If you want it enough and focus on it you will get it.

I knew someone who wanted to move out of her cramped apartment into a nice house. She searched the Internet and the local real estate offices until she found her dream home. She then got photographs and plans of the house and placed them on the wall behind her PC. Those photographs and what they stood for were her focus, whenever she felt demotivated she would grab a coffee and stare at the photographs and repeat to herself “I will have that house” Soon she was motivated again. Just over a year later she finalized the purchase of a similar house.

In addition to long term focus you need to consider your short term focus. a lack of short term focus will have a negative impact on your Long term focus. How many times do you sit down to write an article or build a site only to answer emails of have instant message conversations? very soon you realize you’ve done nothing constructive and you have no time left.

The secret to maintaining short term focus is to get a system together that you can stick to. Each morning I will start my PC, scan my emails for anything urgent then close down my emails for at least 2 hours. I make sure that Skype and Yahoo Messenger are off and then I will work for a set amount on time or until I have completed my task. Only then will I read all my mails and fire up my IM tools. Once you start to focus on your short term goals then your long terms goals will be within your grasp.

Try to eliminate any distractions put the dog outside, take the phone off the hook. If necessary talk to your family and tell them that you need to left in peace when you are working. Explaining what you goals are can really help to get their support.

This article has taken me less than 20 minutes to write because I have focused on it and had no distractions. 2 years ago before I learned to focus I would probably have spent a few hours on it.

There is noting in this world that will stop you achieving your goals If you want them enough. You just need patience and belief in yourself

Keyword Research - SEO Management Step One

by Terry Stanfield

Keyword research is a discipline embraced and used in SEO management by experts to allow them to determine which search terms people are searching on in the search engines. At its simplest level, this research is about studying the phrases that work for your audience and it is a real art. It is one of the most effective ways to identify niche markets that others have failed to recognize. Keyword research is very important so that the content of the pages are more attractive as much for the users as for the robots. Keyword research is not an exact science and shouldn’t be discussed like it is.

I like to focus on finding long tailed keyword phrases that have a significant number of monthly searches for that exact term with 5,000 to 300,000 competing websites. Long tailed keywords, are multi-word keyword phrases. Most folks searching with a one or two keyword are just “browsing”. Most people who use long tail keywords know what they want. Remember, you want to focus each page on 2-3 keyword phrase.

There are many free keyword research tools online. Most SEO software tools include these tools as well. Google, Yahoo and other search engines have free tools also. You want a tool that will give you the number of daily or monthly searches and competing web pages. There are even sites like “spyFu.com” that will let you see which terms your competitors are using.

How many keywords you have in an article is known as keyword density. Your keyword density should be anywhere from 3% to 7%. For example, if you were to write a 100 word article you would need to write the keyword in 7 times to achieve a 7% keyword density. For a 500-word article you would need to use your keyword 15 times to get a 5% density. I use a tool called “Content Composer” that does a fantastic job of keeping me on track.

Keyword research can be defined as choosing the words, which describe your product or service as, seen from the viewpoint of your target market is the most important step in the SEO Management process.

A Few Fresh Ideas For Successful PPC Management

by Elance

Wordtracker and Overture along side AdWord Accelerator are familiar tools for PPC managers. They are useful for sifting out the keyword and bid price competition and help highlight the best performing ads. However you might benefit from using others that have uncommon features that make them desirable tools. They are Adword Analyzer (http://www.adwordanalyzer.com/) and Keywords Analyzer (www.KeywordsAnalyzer.com)

When you need a screwdriver and you head to your toolbox chances are that you will have both a Philips and a slotted screwdriver. You have uses for both, so you keep both to use as needed. It is the same story for keyword tools. They all have their uses, and having more of them is like owning a complete set of tools.

There is no end to learning though. Whether your keyword list is long or short, the first one will most likely be missing something. A major search engine company once reported that out of total searches 20 percent were wholly unique. People search for all kinds of things and use an unlimited variety of words. Therefore here are some out-of-the-ordinary notions for you to consider:

Be sure to have plenty of synonyms and relevant subjects in your hoard of keywords to be certain that you are connecting with those who are looking for what you have.

You can try bidding on brand names, though you’ll have to work through the copyright issues yourself. Google has had a score of its own legal headaches as a result of allowing AdWords users to bid on trademarked names. Nevertheless, names of companies, magazines, associations, famous people, and famous places may all relate to your product. For example, for “billiards” you might bid on the name of famous pool player Jeremy Jones. For drums you might bid on “Buddy Rich.”

Did you know that misspelled words are a great way to get high click through rate without competing with a lot of other advertisers? Why? Because so many advertisers don’t bid on misspelled keywords. For example “Tolkien” (correct spelling) got half the click-through rate of the misspelled “Tolkein” on a “Lord of the Rings” promo.

An impressive website that is handy for pay-per-click advertisers is LexFN.com. In essence it is a massive thesaurus that utilizes the internet to compile synonyms and relevant concepts into a comprehensive list. What an entertaining site to fiddle with! Just bidding on the conventional word not on variations you will miss out. Utilizing “expanded phrase matching” feature Google offers can help, but it is better to use the exact words people type in and it will almost always cost you less. Example: WalMart, Wal-Mart, Wal Mart.

So you want to create an E-Book?

by Mark Hall

Creating an e-book is an easy way to get you feet wet in the world of internet marketing. Many people delay writing their own because they don’t know where to star; some useful hints are detailed below. Although this process assumes that you’re doing the writing yourself, you could hire someone else to write the articles or just produce additional material.

Once you’ve decided on a topic for your E-Book, and have done research to ensure that people are looking for and buying information on this topic, write a series of articles. Why not start by writing a range of articles which will not only help you with your writing practice but they can be used to get interest in the book you are compiling. Post several articles on various websites, as well as on the article directories and the number of views your articles receive will show you what potential your book has for making sales.

Once this is complete you can start writing the content of the e-book and work out how you want it to look. You book should be in three to four sections and will contain an introduction, the main body of the material, a closing chapter and possibly some additional material too. Consider writing several more articles as a bonus because adding this as a bonus will enhance your sales.

Normally authors will write an article and then insert it into their e-book as this gives them an idea of how it will look when it is completed. If you want someone to actually read your e-book, it can’t be too long so keep it informative and around fifty pages in length. People do not like reading on compute screens so prefer to have shorter books that do not drift from the subject.

Most e-books provide bonus material so if you can find some include this as it will be welcomed. of previous articles or even another short report you have compiled. Do not supply bonus material about a completely unrelated subject, readers do not appreciate this.

Here are 2 Quick Ways to Get Started Making Money Online

by Bryon Wenrich

The number of people tired of their routine jobs appears to be on the increase, perhaps it is they feel as if they are going nowhere but whatever the reason, they are turning to making money online as an alternative. Everyone wants to know the most profitable but this isn’t always easy to answer when you consider some people are better at certain things than others.

The particular talents you possess will help but in the beginning you will likely try one of two internet marketing methods to earn money. There is nothing magical about what you are doing. Merely find people that have particular needs or desires and fulfilling these.

One of the most popular methods of making money online is by affiliate marketing where a person becomes an unpaid (commissions only) salesperson for a company, internet or otherwise and is paid for sales, or on occasion leads. Affiliates don’t have to endure the stresses and strains of running that company but still have the opportunity to earn a cut of it.

The hardest part of this is finding a company you know will be there in years to come so you can enjoy a good relationship with them and not have to keep swapping companies. Huge sums can be earned from a single sale depending on the product but you can expect anything up to seventy five percent or more for some programs.

Affiliate revenues vary tremendously with some programs paying as much as seventy five percent on each sale with others (Amazon is an example) who only pay a few percent. Although you might at some stage want to sell your own products, being an affiliate means you do not have to have one of your own to make money online.

Another good example of making money online is using Google’s Adsense program where Google adverts are placed on a site relevant to the content. Although the adsense account is free to join, only a small amount is paid by Google for each click that is made on these textual (usually) links they supply.

Not everyone wants to use this system though and many try other methods because huge numbers of visitors to the site are needed to get a certain percentage to click on a link for an income to build. While almost anyone can join Google’s program, care is needed as they are continually updating and amending their terms and conditions which will affect your revenue.

While Google may not restrict who joins their program, they do make plenty of restrictions regarding the placing of adverts so keep abreast of their terms and conditions. We all have different reasons for wanting to earn a living making money online. You just need to know why you are doing it.

To be successful requires your site to have people visit them and buy something buy just how do you get people to your site in the first place; well the best thing you can do is do some research on the subject. There are a host of websites which can help beginners (and experts alike) with advice, one such is www.warriorforum.com which most internet marketers join and a great deal of help and information can be found there.

Find a path that appeals to you, and stick to it, without getting distracted by all the other offers for get rich methods that you will see. Persevere and you will begin to see results that will give you more motivation to continue until you are successful.

The Secret to Making Money Online - It’s Not What You Think

by Mark Thompson

If you have been online for more than a few days I am sure you’ve been tempted by the adverts for those programs that guarantee you a millionaire lifestyle. You know the ones with the Villas, Yachts and Ferrari’s. Tempting aren’t they but I am sure you’ve thought that they are too good to be true, you are right. The only people getting rich is the creator and maybe a small percentage of his affiliates.

If only internet marketing was as easy as the adverts make out we would all be rich. However this is not the case Internet Marketing is just like any other job you need to learn the basics first before moving onto the big stuff. Even if you get an honest recommendation for a product that has made a lot of money for someone else , it doesn’t mean to say it will make any money for you. There are too many variables involved , for example do you have the necessary experience to use it to the it full potential?

Can you remember what happened when you started to learn to ride a bike? Did your parents buy you a Lance Armstrong replica race bike or a small bike with training wheels? I am prepared to bet it was the latter! Why do you think that was? Obviously because they realized that you needed to learn how to ride a simple bike first before you moved on to better and faster bikes.

How many times do you think you would have fallen of a race bike when you small before you decided that you would never be able to ride a bike ? Unfortunately Internet Marketing is very similar. If you have too many failures too early in your career then you’ll lose faith in yourself and give up.

So where should you start when it comes to making money online?

Firstly you need to master the basics. Find out what niches are and why you should target long-tail keywords. Once you know some of the basics set out a plan of what you are going to do. Try a little market research , what is making people money. Work out what type of sites will suit you. Initially you will feel like you’ll never master it but stick with it within a short will you’ll be seeing your bank balance increase.

Try to resist buying every tool you see advertised until you have a firm grasp of what you want to do. There are far more free resources online than you probably realize. Make use of them, every cent you save now is a cent closer you get to making a profit.

I am lucky enough to be able to make a full time income by working online. I am also a believer in sharing what I’ve learned. Therefore I have recently decided to give away many of the guide, e-books and videos I’ve created over the past few years. You’ll find details of the site Profitable Website Guides below.

Build Profitable Websites With Free Resources

by Mark Thompson

If you still need to hold down a full time job while at the same time trying to build up your online portfolio you should be looking to build income from projects that take little time and maintenance. It’s all very well for someone to write a book telling you to create a site then submit 5 articles a day for a month (This was really the recommendation in a report I read this week!) but it’s not realistic. Yes you could outsource the work but you’d soon have spent $750-$1000 before you’d made a cent. This is now money that you have to recuperate before you are in profit.

We’ve had a lot of people join the income academy who have spent hundreds of dollars on e-books and programs only to find that they don’t have the basic knowledge of how to make the programs earn them money or they just don’t have the time to put them into operation

I’ve seen people just starting out spend $1500 on a site and expect the money to pour in. Time to wake up and smell the coffee, unless you are very lucky you will need to work on site promotion which takes time.

Earlier this week I was in a forum I usually visit and a guy way laying out his plans for the week. he was going to build 30 sites and then see which ones performed. I tried to explain that his time would be best spent just building 1 or 2 sites and spending time promoting these. With out promotion none of the sites will prosper so he will have just wasted a week and the money he spent on 30 domains.

You should be looking for sites that you can set up quickly and that will take up as little time as possible with maintenance. This leaves you with more time for the all important site promotion. Any profits you make can then be put towards outsourcing other projects.

Before I moved onto my current projects I chose to build a number of Adsense sites. These took up very little time once they were built and I was able to promote them and update them on a regular basis. As soon as I was getting a good Income from them I was able to move on to other projects. I knew that whatever happened I had the income from the Adsense sites to fall back on.

You should look to use as many of the free resources available to you as possible when you are starting out. Use tools like Wordpress to build your sites, you can then easily add Adsense or affiliate programs to earn money. Use google alerts to get topics you can write about on your Wordpress site. I created a site with Wordpress and a datafeed from Goldencan which has already made me over $300 this year. All for a cost of an $8 domain.

There are many free resources available. a quick search around the internet and a few forums will throw up a whole host of them.

The example above was just one way that you can build sites cheaply that require very little maintenance. Anything that can save you both time and money should be a priority when you are starting out. If you would like more ideas like these please check out The Income Academy you’ll find details below

Social Marketing. The New Tool In Network Marketing

by Joseph Munzer

Success in Network Marketing comes to those who stay current with the different ways people connect with each other and find the information they desire. The Internet’s latest trend will be quite profitable for those who are aware of this trend.

Every time you turn around, a new social networking site seems to be gaining popularity. The search engines are no longer the first option for many people searching for information on the web. They are turning to social networking sites to find and share information as well as to connect with like minded people. Adults and business people seem to be leading the way. This can be good news for the savvy Network Marketer since their income levels tend to be above average.

People from all walks of life are successfully using these networks. Lawyers, doctors, network marketers, musicians, small business owners, they are all taking advantage of them. You now connect with people who need and are looking for what you have to offer. Post a profile with audio, pictures and/or video and you can attract highly qualified prospects to investigate what you are offering. A certain number of these highly qualified prospects will then contact you via email or phone.

Old school recruiting is a thing of the past.

If you have bugged your family and friends in the past and do not wish to do so anymore, then social networking is the way to go. Calling stranger after stranger and being hung up on or spoken rudely to are not favorite past times for most people either. Using social marketing will make these a thing of the past. In the end not everybody will be a fit for what you have to offer, but the interactions you have with people will be quite different. The process of building your business will no longer seem like a chore and your downline will start to grow because of the different type of interactions they will be experiencing when they follow the techniques you teach them as their leader.

The old methods of building a network marketing business worked at one point in time. The problem is, these old methods are not very effective and they scare people. Nobody wants to chase down strangers, hand out fliers or coordinate opportunity meetings. Taking advantage of attraction marketing methods with social networking sites on the internet allows people to stay in their comfort zone. The fear of stepping outside that comfort zone is what keeps a lot of newcomers from succeeding.

The creation of residual income comes from two factors. First you need a product that the public needs and wants and second you need to have methods in place that will consistently locate new customers. If these methods are not easy to follow and replicate they will not be of much use. When your downline starts to see results from the simple methods you taught them, your residual income will begin to grow.

Let’s get started!

Web 2.0 and Social Marketing offers great benefits to those who take advantage of them. In the world of Network Marketing, being chased is much more fun (and more profitable) than being the one doing the chasing. The next two years should prove to be very lucrative for those implementing these techniques.

Hints for Keyword Success

by Kirt Christensen

For those people experienced in the Adwords scene, the keywords are the most important thing. Getting profitable keywords and drawing in clients is the make or break factor for them.

An unsuccessful AdWords campaign can lead to hundreds of dollars in wasted advertising as their ads fail to draw in productive leads but still generate plenty of idle interest among the portion of internet browsers with little else to do but browse through the “Sponsored Ads” to see what there is to see.

What isn’t known by this group of people is that luck doesn’t come into play and careful research doesn’t guarantee success also.

Now if you go into a search engine database you can find keywords that generate the greatest amount of business over a certain period of time. These keywords will generate a book full of search results because of their popularity, but the searcher is only interested in the first 5-10 pages, anything after those pages won’t be seen.

Obviously it is necessary that an advertisement be among these first few pages in order to guarantee its success, but what does that have to do with keywords? In order to ensure that an advertisement is among the top of the sponsored links (i.e. listed on those first five to ten pages) the advertiser is going to have to be among the top bidders for that keyword.

That means that they are going to need to pay more for each time their advertisement is clicked than the people on the other ninety-nine pages if they wish for their ad to appear on the first page.

Now that may not seem to be a great amount, but if you think about it the marketer has to pay that amount for every person who clicks and every click he makes even if no sales are generated. The possibility for loss of advertising monies is great. That is why every ad needs to be functioning as optimally as possible to warrant the expenditures.

A successful ad is totally dependant on the success of it’s keywords.

A good keyword will be one which will be specific enough that it narrows down the viewing pool (for example, “indoor swimming pools” rather than “swimming pools”) but still general enough that browsers will think to enter it into their search engine (honestly, unless they are professionals themselves they will not know to select a Culligan swimming pool).

Anyone having difficulty selecting keywords for their advertisements can use any one of the vast array of tools available through Google’s AdWords site, www.adwords.google.com.

Search Engine Marketing: How Search Engines Work

by Terry Stanfield

Have you ever wondered how exactly search engine marketing works or how search engine optimization can help your business? Search engine marketing relies on the basic principles of search engine optimization. Search engine optimization makes it possible for a search engine’s spider to find your web page and add it to the search engine results page whenever someone does a search for a word or phrase that shows up on your website.

Search engine marketing uses search engine optimized content to make your website easier for the spiders to find and for people who are searching the web to find. A search engine uses thousands of little bots called spiders to index the millions of web pages that are on the Internet. These spiders start at the most well known websites and work backwards following links and searching for common words and phrases. Every page that the spiders come across with those particular words on them is indexed and saved. Those pages are the ones that show up in the search engine results page when someone uses Google or another search engine to look for websites on a particular topic. The place where each site shows up in the search engine results page ranking is based on the content of the site, how many times particular words and phrases appear on the site and the relevance of the site to those search times. That is why search engine marketing depends so heavily on search engine optimization.

If you want your website to show up higher on the search engine results page then you use to use search engine marketing and search engine optimization techniques in order to get the spiders to notice your site and put your site higher on the search engine results page. People who are using a search engine to look for websites will rarely click to the second search engine results page. It’s crucial that your site be on the first page of the search engine results page or people will probably not find your site. Using search engine marketing and search engine optimization is the best way to do that.

The number one rule to remember when you are planning out search engine marketing strategies or trying to figure out how use search engine optimization effectively on your website is that your website should have 100% original content. The spiders will place your site higher on the search engine results page if the content that is on your site is original. When websites duplicate copy the spiders pick up on the repeated phrases and language and will sometimes not index a site at all if the spider determines that the content is too similar to the content on another site.

Search engine optimization and search engine marketing is more than just taking one word or phrase and repeating it a certain number of times. The content on the site has to be fresh and engaging and also contain the keywords or key phrases that will bring traffic to the website.

Why Proper Keywords are so Important to a Google AdWords Campaign

by Kirt Christensen

When you go onto the internet looking for information what is the first thing that you do? Do you go directly to the website that you are looking for, magically pulled there by your subconscious who, coincidentally, just happed to know the web address of the site?

No way! You, and every other of the more than million searchers around the world, head straight to your favorite search engine to get help. With a few words or phrases, or maybe even a whole sentence that you type in, you have the search engine doing all the work for you. It guides you, as if by magic, to various web pages that will probably have what you need.

Those words that you type in the search engine are what is known as keywords, and they are how you get your prospective customers to be directed to your site after you have launched your AdWords campaign. With these keywords you have to be precise enough without leaving out the section of the consumers that do not know about your particular service or product.

If you lack the right keywords your adwords campaign will be unsuccessful from the get go. We are talking pay per click, that means you have to pay Google everytiime there is a click on your ad even if you never make a sale on any of those clicks.

Incorrect keywords means that the people you want to reach won’t be guided to your ad and you won’t have the opportunity to grab them with your ads, but it may send your ad out to masses of consumers who have no need of, or desire for, what you offer and only used one of your keywords. That will continually force up the cost of your advertising to a point that you are driven to closing your Google campaign.

There are a number of methods which can be employed to properly select keywords for an AdWords campaign. The simplest is for the advertiser to take a moment and consider both the product and the consumer market. What is it that the consumer wants from this product? What role is it going to fill? It is important that the need that a product fills be included in the advertisement; after all, if there is no need for a product it wouldn’t be launched onto the market.

When the advertisers have narrowed down their field of keywords to ones that will help them get traffic to their AdWords ad, they can head on over to Google’s adwords site at www.adwords.google.com where they can get help discovering synonyms and other related words to get their ads to the most specific group possible. They can then enjoy the profitable nature of their ads.
